FAQS

I would like to register with your site for our school but it says domain not recognized. What do I need to do?
To register your school to gain access to the platform we require a school point of contact. This is to verify the student registrations from your school. To register a teacher or staff member at the school needs to complete the following form: https://saltersinstitute.org/programmes/chemistry-club/register-your-school/

The upload of your school to the site is a manual process. The team here will upload the school information to the Chemistry Club website and send a notification when this is complete. Once this has been done then students will be able to register for a profile.
I have completed the form and my school has been uploaded but when students are trying to register it is still showing that the domain is not registered. Why is this happening?
The likelihood is that the domain submitted on the form doesn’t match the one that they are registering with. Please send us the student e-mail domain at chemistryclub@saltersinstitute.org and we will add this to your school profile. Once this has been updated students should be free to register.
I'm trying to register but the system says: "error, the account with that email already exists". Can you please help?
Unfortunately for registration each user requires a unique e-mail address to register, like most other platforms where you set-up a profile. This is because they need a unique identifier.

The system is built so that when students register, it uses the school e-mail domain to identify the school they attend, which then sends a verification e-mail to the school point of contact. This is to ensure the platform is being used by 11-14 year olds and is for safeguarding protocols. With this system it isn't possible to use general/personal e-mail addresses as an alternative.
I would really like to register a child who is home educated. Is there an option for a home educator to be able to register a child?
Unfortunately at this time we are unable to offer access to the platform to home educators. This is due to the validation process required for learners to register. The process requires users to have a unique e-mail domain that links with their school.

Home educator access is something that we hope to introduce in the future as we know the importance of reaching these students, it just isn’t within scope at this time. If you are interested to hear about updates to the platform then please contact us at chemistryclub@saltersinstitute.org.

We do however, have other provisions for homes educators. These include:
What information will I receive as a teacher about the students taking part?
As a registered school we will provide a quarterly report which has details of the students that have registered on the platform and the collective content completed as a school. At a national level we will be rewarding the top students on the platform as part of our annual Awards Ceremony.

Chemistry Club has been developed as an independent learning tool and so we feel that any participation should be celebrated at a school level. This means that you won’t be provided with the progress of each individual.
Can there be more than one teacher or technician registered to the school?
There can be more than one teacher or technician registered as a point of contact, both will receive the verification e-mails though. If you would like additional teacher profiles set-up then we are able to assist with this.
I know that Chemistry Club has been running since September 2021. Can I access content from previous months?
Yes, you can access all the previous months’ content, just use the toggle system at the top to find the month you want to complete content in.
How many attempts can I make on the activities?
There is no limit to the number of attempts that you can make on any of the activities so don’t worry about getting things wrong. No one sees your scores, this is all about having fun and learning more about chemistry!
